EFFECTIVE SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

Many people do social media marketing wrong. You hear shout everyone: “Be present on social media”, but what that means is not always correctly described. Social media marketing must be effective and affordable. And if done right, it can help scale up businesses of any size.

As with traditional channels such as TV commercials, radio spots and print ads, your results will be minimal if you send your message to the wrong audience. To help you run a successful marketing campaign for social media, I’ve compiled a list of ‘must-do’s’.

1. TAKE TIME FREE TO LEARN HOW SOCIAL MEDIA WORKS.

There are many marketing tips for social media available online, from free content on websites, such as these, to paid courses that you can complete at your convenience. It is not so complicated if you take the time to educate yourself.

It is important that you take the time to learn how social media marketing works for your specific purpose. Although the fundamentals are the same everywhere, you will have to adjust your strategies somewhat to attract the attention of your target audience. Use as much content and free resources as you can in the beginning. From there you can then focus on your specific goals and objectives.

2. LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.

The only way to know what your customers want is to listen to what they have to say. It is important that you use your social media platforms as an extension of your customer service. More customers will give their opinion on social media than via e-mail or over the phone.

When you listen to your audience, you also open the door to other possibilities. Learn to listen to your audience – it can provide you with valuable information.

3. USE AUTOMATION FOR CONSISTENCY.

There is smart automation and then there is spam, ineffective automation when it comes to social media marketing. You do not have to forward promotional offers throughout the day – that’s a quick way to lose all your followers. Use social media as a way to communicate with your audience and provide valuable information to them. When you do that, you create happy brand supporters that can eventually be converted into sales.

There are various automation software, such as Hootsuite, that offer a free plan that can significantly increase your efficiency. If you invoke your messages in advance, you will have more time to focus on responding and responding to your followers on social media.

4. INVOLVE AND SURPRISE YOUR PUBLIC.

It is one thing to fill your feed with social media with posts, but it is something else to actively engage your audience and make them happy customers. I see many small business owners posting a few times a day because they think they are doing the right thing when it comes to social media marketing. You can not just post and run away. If you do that, you miss primary opportunities to get in touch with your audience and convert them.

By engaging your followers, you can discover problems that other customers may also experience. Then you can be proactive and tackle these problems quickly before they get frustrated. When your lines of communication are always open, you will often discover problematic situations before they get out of hand.

5. DO NOT SPREAD YOURSELF EVERYWHERE.

It is almost impossible – and almost always ineffective – to be active on every social media platform. I always suggest that new people should start with two or three social media platforms, where they are sure that their target group is active. Master that, and then expand your social reach, as business grows, and more effort can be allocated to additional social platforms.

6. FOLLOW AND MEASURE EVERYTHING. SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

You will never run a successful social media marketing campaign if you do not measure your results. It is important that you specify clear targets with benchmarks that allow you to determine whether your social effort is paying off. The data you collect and analyze can then be used to make changes to your campaign. You must be prepared to continually optimize and test your efforts if you want to develop a truly successful campaign.

It does not matter if you work with a daily social media budget of 10 euros or six digits. The goal is the same: put your message to the right audience and activate involvement. To do that, you must follow and measure everything.
